The Lancer has a long history and has been a very strong brand for Mitsubishi in South East Asia. The roll out of the new Lancer EX to counter the strong surge of the Honda Civic, Toyota Altis and the Ford Focus in China has been long overdue.
A strategic move to maintain the Lancer brand in Asia, Mitsubishi was strengthen the value of the Lancer EX with new technology and accessories. A strong emphasis on differentiating the Lancer EX gives it a special position among it competitors, with its modest starting price and a solid reputation on having a proven engine.

Mitsubishi Electric Car 2009 Test Run in Iceland

 'Leccy Tech It's not just New Zealanders who'll see Mitsubishi's electric i MiEV gently humming its way around their roads next year - Icelanders will too.
Representatives of Iceland's Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism this week shook hands with the Mitsubishi executives on deal that will see "fleet testing" of the zero-emission cars next year.
Iceland claims to get almost all of its electrical energy from hydroelectric and geothermal sources - since the the volcano/island is sitting slap bang on top of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, we'd hope so - so it's naturally as keen as mustard on renewable resources.

Mitsubishi Goes Forward with Electric Cars

The president of Mitsubishi Motors, Osamu Masuko, has announced that the firm will produce 2,000 i MiEV electric cars in 2009. This is not only the first time that the vehicle volume has been confirmed, but it also means the car will be launched in Japan almost a year earlier than previously publicly stated.
Masuko also notes in his statement that Mitsubishi intends to build 4,000 units of the car in 2010 with mass production to follow this. No production facility has been named. The i MiEV is closely based on the three-year old i minicar. That model is made at the OEM's Okazaki plant.
